Helping With Determination of Child Support
Child support is determined in the State of Texas by a clear, non-negotiable method: both parents’ incomes are indexed to the state’s Child Support Worksheet. Monthly support payments are based on the combined net income of the parents and the number of children involved.
In the event the combined monthly income exceeds $7,000, a cap is placed on the amount, unless the receiving parent proves a higher amount is necessary. Variations on child support are determined by special cases, such as health insurance, day care, medical or educational needs.
All of these factors are important, and the bottom line is that your children need to be supported financially. Engel Law Firm understands this situation, and we use our skills and legal knowledge to fight for the welfare of your children. If your spouse is withholding income, we’ll prove that in court so you get what you lawfully deserve. Life events such as re-marriage or a rise in salary, which can create a need to modify a child support agreement.
Once the payment levels have been finalized, there’s no guarantee that your ex-spouse will make them in the right amount, and on time. If they’re not, we’ll use the law to make sure your payments begin to arrive on time, and in full.
